The Body in the Record Room

What is the upcoming book about?

Can a state hospital mental patient who thinks he is the cowboy hero Roy Rogers resolve a decades-old murder in the town of Sunrise?

Set in 1954, this book follows Roy and his friends as they move through the buildings and grounds of the Sunrise Mental Hospital, a 1,000-acre state facility with more than 2,000 patients and 800 employees. They go from the record room to the hospital's Catholic chapel, from the blacksmith shop to the hospital cemetery, looking for victims of the terrible abuse behind murder.

In the process, Roy Rogers himself is changed. He understands the strength and moral stature of his own heroes, the actual Roy Rogers and Dale Evans. He overcomes the terror of his past, chooses to forgo violence, and decides to work within the law.
