Yesterday, I ran across Elmore Leonard's Ten Rules for Writing. The tenth one is, "Try to leave out the part that readers tend to skip."
I'm practicing that here today.
Leonard says his most important rule is, "If it sounds like writing, I rewrite it."
His rules are also available in gift-book form.
If you haven't read them for a while, you might enjoy Leonard's rules.
