The crime of abuse

Saturday, May 23, 2009

To read a powerful blog entry about a recent report on abuse in Ireland, click here.

I've said it here before. There are some crimes at least as horrendous as murder.

I've been reading the Jack Taylor series from the first. I've read two. This is next up. Because of its timeliness, I plan to start it in the next day or so.

The Magdalens were certainly horrendous, and their crimes were against females of all ages, not children alone. And the last of their 'asylums' did not close until 1996.

But the evil that is squashed in one place then pops up in another. Did you see the ABC news report yesterday on the abuse and abandonment of children accused of being witches by Christian ministers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo? And the government there is upholding such practices.
