Gracious and loving God,
Today we remember.
We pray for the family and friends of those lost and maimed on 9/11. Their grief is beyond our knowing. May they feel our love for them.
We don't pray for vengeance. We pray for the courage to make the world better.
We pray for all grieving families including the grieving families of the hijackers. Those folks lost loved ones too. We can't know what they are feeling.
A small group brought us death and grief. May we use our energies to bring something better to the world.
We are all different. We may not agree about a lot of things.
There is evil in the world. We acknowledge that. But there is good too. Help us be forces for good. Help us memorialize the victims of this terrible act. Help us support their families by bringing blessings to our neighbors and the world.
We are so small. It seems we can do so little. Help us do what we can do. And you do the rest.
I offer this prayer in the name of all who have taught us to live in love and hope . . .
